JAN HARM HERBST

Jan studied accountancy at the University of Pretoria and obtained his post graduate degree in accounting at the University of South Africa. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1994. He started his career at Coopers Theron Du Toit where he served his articles. He joined the Receiver of Revenue in 1992. From there he moved to Abakor Internal audit department in 1994 from where he was promoted to Group Financial Manager in 1995. He joined Iscor Internal Audit in 1996 as senior internal auditor. In 1998 he was promoted to Internal Audit Manager and in 1999 to General Manager Internal Audit. In 2001 with the unbundling of Iscor, he formed Aurco Group (Pty) Ltd and was appointed as Managing Director. Jan is a fellow of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
